Rockstar Games is offering Mo Bros an awesome prize this Movember. They are going to pick the Mo Bro with the best Mo and have his likeness immortalised as a character in Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption due out in 2010.

Moustache styling – the horseshoe

So the first moustache to be considered is the all powerful horseshoe:

A horseshoe moustache is a full moustache with vertical extensions grown on the corners of the lips and down the sides of the mouth to the jawline, resembling an upside-down U or a horseshoe. The whiskers grown along the sides of the mouth in the horseshoe are sometimes referred to as “pipes”.

I’m quite a fan of this type of Mo, as I think it will fit my face rather well, so it’s probably top of my growing list at this point in time. Plus it is sported by some great people at one time or another: The Edge (U2) – pretty cool, Glenn Hughs (Village People) – not so cool.

Morgan Spurlock had / has a great one, as well as Luke Walker (many of you may not know him, but he’s a snowboarder).

However the greatest of them all has to be Hulk Hogans. That is one impressive horseshoe. Not sure if it is the colour, but it has become as famous as the man himself.

What to grow?

The perfect first impression means finding the right style, and with a variety of moustache styles that have been popular through the ages, all which add a lasting impression to those that you are speaking to, it is quite difficult to choose the one that is right.

Over the next few days myslef and my team memebrs are going to have to start making some choices around what style we wish to grow and show, and we hope that you will help us make up our minds.

moustache or mustache ?

We have been having a little debate in our offices today around whether it is a Moustache (pip-pip-tally-ho hurrah) or a Mustache (yee-har pardners) – there was even one descender who insisted on calling it Moustachio but we will ignore him.

From my own point of view, I think a Mustache is a unkempt version of a Moustache. Once a Mustache has been styled, groomed and waxed it becomes the gentleman’s Moustache.

Well not quite – at least not yet.

A slight itching this morning, and not enough coffee, had me scurrying to shave before work this morning. It wasn’t until I was all lathered up then I remembered about this growing event.

I am going to need to write myself a sticky note, or hide my shaving mirror if I am going to get to the end.
